Darragh Treacy and Sean McSweeney (4 points) from the Saint Kieran’s club were members of the Limerick team that defeated London by 0-11 to 0-10 in the National Football League Division 4 at Ruislip London on Sunday, January 27. Róisín Ambrose and members of the Limerick team that won last year’s All Ireland junior title received their medals at the Woodlands House Hotel on Friday, January 25
Saint Kieran’s officers and players are selling National Club tickets for €10 at present. The draw is run by Croke Park and the clubs receive all the proceeds from the tickets they sell. The prizes include a 2019 Renault Clio 2, All Ireland Final weekend packages, and shopping vouchers. The draw will be held on Wednesday March 6 and the prizes will be presented at Croke Park on Saint Patrick’s Day. All support will be greatly appreciated by the club. Carrig Celtic lost 5-0 away to Rathkeale AFC in the Premier Division of the Desmond League on Sunday, January 27. Creeves Celtic defeated Askeaton AFC 3-2 away in the Richard Hogan Cup quarter final with Tom Shanahan 2, and Richard Hayes scoring their goals. In the Desmond Ladies Premier Division Kilcolman Rovers lost 5-1( Gillian Musgrave) away to Ballingarry and Creeves Celtic had no match.
The Old Mill Ladies Football Club AGM will take place in Ardagh Hall on Friday, February 8 at 8pm, and all are welcome.
The West Limerick Set Dancing Club will hold its annual Workshop Weekend from February 8-11 in the Devon Inn Hotel Templeglantine. It commences on Friday night with a music and singing session at 7.30 followed by a Céilí at 9pm with music by Taylor’s Cross Céilí Band . The set dancing workshop will be held on Saturday from 10.30 to 12.30 and from 2pm to 4pm. A céilí at 9pm with music by the Striolan Céilí Band. The final Céilí will be held on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm with music by the Johnny Reidy Céilí Band. The Coolcappa/Kilcolman sacristan’s collection will be held in both churches on the weekend of February 9/10. People are asked to be generous with their donations to show their appreciation for the work done by Joan and Tony.
Saint Kieran’s Heritage Association will hold their AGM on Wednesday February 13 at 8pm in Ardagh Hall. New members are always welcome to get involved in the activities.
The Jailbirds group who participated in the Lip Sync Legends are holding a Valentine’s Disco at the Ballintemple Inn Newcastle West on Friday February 15 from 9pm until late. There will be spot prizes for the best dressed and a raffle will be held, and food will be available. The DJ will be Sean Carrig and admission is €10 and all proceeds will go to the Astro Weather Pitch Ardagh. The tickets are available from Denis Greaney, Neary’s Bar, The Ballintemple Inn, and from members of the Jailbirds. All support for the group and the ADRSC project will be greatly appreciated.
A Valentine’s Ball will be held on Saturday, February 16 in Rathkeale House Hotel, with all proceeds going to Milford Hospice. It commences with a Presseco reception at 7pm followed by a 4-course meal with lots of pop up entertainment. Music by Traffic followed by DJ and the MC on the night is Tim Cusack of The Lime Tree Panto Society. Tickets are €50 per person or a Table of 10 for €450 euro. Saint Kieran’s GAA Club are holding a medal presentation night in the Ballintemple Inn Newcastle West on Saturday February 23. Receiving their medals will be the senior footballers, and the Under 21 A footballers who won West titles in 2018 and the Under 21 B footballers who won the County title in 2017. The club will also cast their mind back 45 years to 1974 which was one of the most successful ever in their history. West titles were won in senior, junior, and under 21 football and all three teams went on to contest County finals. The junior team were successful defeating Monaleen by 2-5 to 2-4 at Bruff on December 15. A special presentation will be made to the winning panel of players.
Congratulations to Eddie the Shop who won €190 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw, held on Friday February 1 . Tickets cost €2 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, or from the radio station. All support is very much appreciated.
