GAA Notes

by Kathleen Mullane

Congrats to Paul Curry, chairman of Athea GAA, who celebrated his 50th birthday this week. An enjoyable weekend was had by Paul and his boys at the Arsenal/Man Utd game and als the London/Limerick game. Best wishes on his special day.

Well, only just about 5 weeks to go to the much looked forward to S,S.C. fund-raiser at the Devon Inn on Saturday March 2nd. The groups are very busy practicing every Tuesday and Wednesday night at the Top of the Town under the guidance of Cassie who is putting them through their routines.  If anyone out there who thinks they can input into the show –  contact Paul Curry or Pat Sullivan immediately. If you fall into any of the S.D.C. brackets (singers, dancers and chancers) and lip syncers, come along, its going to be a gr5eat Athea community night.

Well, following an executive meeting on Wednesday night, the committee spoke about setting up a hurling club for our young people in the not too distant future, Who knows, we may have some budding young hurlers – we wait in anticipation. Also spoken about was family membership  for the club which would be great for families with a few children and both parents included.
