Athea GAA
Sympathy:
Athea GAA Club wishes to offer sincere sympathy to the family and extended family of the late Mary Collins R.I.P. who passed away last week. She will be remembered fondly.
Good Luck:
All the very best of luck is wished to my neighbor Denis Greaney and the Limerick football team, who travel to London this coming weekend to play a game there. Hopefully they will “come up trumps” having travelled.
S.D.C. Fundraiser:
Well preparations and practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday nights are going well for the forthcoming S.D.C. night on March 2nd at The Devon Inn. Again Cassie is putting the dedicated volunteers through their dance routines and acts. It’s with the help of these good people that a show of this magnitude can be put on to help bring down the debt on the fabulous pitch and track for running and walking with new lights. The pitch has to be kept in ‘pristine condition’ throughout the year and this all takes money and effort, combined with insurance, electricity bills, fertilizer and so much more. €220,000 has been put into the pitch since 2015. But thankfully from the initial cost of €350,000 the debt, with everyone’s help in the draws and grants procured, it has now come down to around €45,000. so with all the support from parents and footballers alike for the S.D.C. night it will hopefully be halved.
Anyone else who still wants to join the practice nights, come to the Top of the Town Tuesday/Wednesday nights.
