S.D.C.:
Well, the next fundraiser after the Club draw, for the debt on the pitch and lighting will be on March 1st at The Devon Inn. Singers – Dancers – Chancers. There is great enthusiasm for these events and the participants, both men and women are “rearing to go”. No doubt the practicing will start early in the New Year, but before Christmas all those volunteering to give of their time and energy to help out will be thinking of their songs, group members etc. The Men’s, Ladies and Mothers & Others will be the main participants and of course all others are most welcome.

Minor County Final:
Casey/Colbert’s 5-06 St. Ailbies 1-05
Our minor girls joined with Fr. Caseys are County Minor A Champions after a superb display of football in Mick Neville Park on Sunday evening last. Casey/Cloberts thoroughly deserved the title as they led from start to finish on an excellent evening for football. Casey/Colberts got off to a blistering start when Noelle Curtin scored a point from play followed by a brilliant goal by Muirne Lane. Two more pointed frees from the boot of Noelle Curtin gave us a six point lead with just five minutes gone on the clock. St. Ailbies settled into the game and dominated the next ten minutes, scored two points from play which brought them back into the game. They had several goal chances but a string of brilliant saves by Sarah O’ Connor in goals combined by tenacious defending by Rachel Greaney, Caoimhe Riordan and Kara Scannell kept them at bay. Chloe Brosnahan and Sinead Leahy got to grips at midfield and laid the foundation for many attacks. Rachel Horan, Noelle Curtin and Ella Fitzgerald tormented their half back line and then we came storming back into the game when Muirne Lane and Sarah O’ Brien scored a goal and a point each in a five minute spell to give us a commanding lead. A pointed free just before half time left the score at the break Casey/Colberts 3-05, St. Ailbies 0-03. The second half was a much tighter affair and scores were hard to come by. St. Ailbies pointed a free after five minutes to close the gap as they tried hard to get back into the game. They attacked with pace but Hazel Fitzgerald and Michelle Curtin were outstanding in the half back line and denied them many scoring opportunities. Both sides exchanged point’s midway through the half, but with nine minutes left on the clock Muirne lane scored her third goal of the game to put the result beyond doubt. Maeve Murphy, Clare Carmody, Eilish Cotter, Shauna Curtin and Amy Ryan all played their Part when introduced as subs in the final quarter. St Ailbies did find the back of the net late on, but Muirne Lane capped of a fine performance when she scored her fourth goal of the game with time almost up. There was great excitement all round when the final whistle went as the score read Casey/Colberts 5-06, St. Ailbies 1-05. This was an outstanding team performance and team captain Rachel Horan accepted the shield on behalf of the team. .Panel: Sarah O’ Connor, Rachel Greaney, Caoimhe Riordan, Michelle Curtin, Hazel Fitzgerald, Kara Scannell, Chloe Brosnahan, Sinead Leahy, Rachel Horan, Noelle Curtin, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah O’ Brien, Muirne Lane, Eilish Cotter, Maeve Murphy, Claire Carmody, Shauna Curtin, Ciara Hunt and Amy Ryan.
