Sincere sympathy is extended to Kevin Dillon on the recent death of his wife Lilian in Castleisland last week. Many came to pay their last respects at Tangney’s funeral home on Thursday evening. Kevin was a member of the 1968 team who recently had their commemoration night. Athea GAA offer sympathy to the Dillon family.


Paul Collins has a further supply of Commemoration DVD’s from the celebratory get-together at  The Devon Inn. €15 each and a great Christmas gift for exiles.

We received a cheque from Tesco Abbeyfeale following their “Community fund” initiative. Thanks to all those who supported our club by putting the blue tokens in Athea Coiste na nÓg slot.

Donkey Derby: (New Lights Fundraiser)

A Donkey Derby will take place at the top of the Town Bar on Saturday December 1 to help raise funds for the new lights installed on the pitch. More details to follow in the coming weeks.


U6, U8 & U10:

Training for our U6, U8 & U10 players continues this Friday evening in Páirc na nGael from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. All players must have gum shields in order to take part.

Casey/Colbert’s 3-08 

Springfield Desmonds 3-02

Our minor girls have qualified for the County semi-final following a great win over the Monegea Dromcollogher/Broadford combination, Springfield Desmonds in Abbeyfeale on Sunday morning last. We led at half time by three points in a tightly contested first half. The opposition narrowed the gap to a single point early in the second half, but the Casey Colberts combination kicked some great points in the last fifteen minutes along with some great defending and two vital saves to win by six points. Casey/Colberts 3-08, Springfield Desmonds 3-02.
