Congratulations to Ta and Ita Mullane on the birth of their grand-daughter Esme Duriez in Scotland recently – a little sister for Archie and Oscar.

Somebody is making money out of Limerick flags these days as every house is sporting one, in preparation for the big event next Sunday. It is lovely to see. May the best team win and may the best team be Limerick.

Like I mentioned last week I had the pleasure of escorting Joanne Feely de Graaf and her husband Jim and children Sophia and Eric around Glasha and Athea and other places familiar to her father Joe Feely who passed away two years ago in London, Ontario where he had lived. They loved seeing the places which they often heard him speak about and they admired the beauty of Ireland in general. They went back with a Limerick flag which they will fly with pride in Canada next Sunday.

Ballyhahill Parents Association would love the support of anyone in the parish that is willing to give a helping hand on this Saturday August 18th to give a clean up to the outside of the School. It will only be possible with the help of those in our community so if you are free on the day please consider helping out. They will be meeting at 9am and will be most grateful for any amount of time you can give. Every pair of extra hands will go a long way! Bring with you anything that you have that may be needed such as yard brushes, power washers etc.. The association wishes to thank anyone who contributed in any way to this small school throughout the school year. It is very much appreciated by the parents, the pupils and the teachers.

Has anybody noticed the abundance of mushrooms this year, presumably due to the earth being warmed from our lovely heatwave? Blackberries are much more prolific too. Some say it is the sign of a hard winter to come while others say it is the sign of a good summer. Take your pick.

The summer is flying by and very shortly the schools will be reopening and things will return to routine again. Meanwhile there is an All Ireland Medal waiting to be picked up! Enjoy the occasion everybody.

I am sad to hear that my cousin Denny Falahee has passed away and send sympathies to his wife Breda and daughter Trish and her family and to his sister Bridie Ahern and brother Eddie and their families. May he rest in peace.
