Athea GAA

Fixtures:

Minors

Our Minors have a home game here at Pairc na nGael on this Friday evening, July 6th, at 7.30pm against St. Sennan’s. These are a strong bunch of young boys and a talented uprising team. Give them your continued support.

Junior B

The Juniors play their championship game against Knockaderry on Sunday evening, July 8th. The venue has still to be decided. This should be an exciting game.

G.A.A. Draw

It’s great to see the giant ‘500 Draw’ promotions poster erected outside Paul Collins’ shop here in Athea depicting a section of all those of all ages who utilize the pitch and running track. It’s a pitch and track for the entire community and beyond so  it is hoped that every household will get behind the club and buy a ticket  even between each family. The debt is coming down by degrees and with everyone’s help, hopefully in the not too distant future (like our Community Hall which is now debt free as all the parish got behind it) the pitch likewise will have its debt cleared and wouldn’t that be a great thing. If you want to be in with a chance of winning one of the great prizes –  tickets can be got from Paul Curry, chairman, or indeed any of the G.A.A. Committee or phone me Kathleen on 087 1233361.

We improved as the day went on and put up a great battle against Monaleen in our final game. We would like to thank our water boys who were a godsend on the day and Monaleen Gaelic for mothers and others for inviting us and for the refreshments afterwards. Panel: Deirdre Mullane, Siobhan Sweeney, Olivia Quinn, Stacey Galvin, Christina Healy, Laura Brosnan, Nora Hunt, Mary Teahan, Trish Russell and Frances Leahy.

Football training continues for Gaelic for Mother and others every Tuesday evening in Páirc na nGael from 7pm. Everyone is welcome to come along for an hour of football and fun.
