KENNEDY CUP
Athea Utd were represented at last weeks Kennedy Cup in UL by Daire O’Shea who had a very good tournament and started a number of games. Highlight of the week was his goal against Clare on the Tuesday morning, a brilliantly executed thirty five yard volley that gave Limerick Desmond the lead. Daire all round display against Clare was rewarded when he was chosen as the player of the match in that game. Well done Daire, you did your family, club and league proud.

Club Draw

I’m not sure how many have seen the giant poster portraying the many different clubs that use out fantastic G.A.A. Pitch – advertising the club’s main fundraiser. As we are all well aware, if our youth get involved in sport from a young age, it keeps them not only fit and active but it also keeps them off the street and out of trouble and away from all electronic devices: x-boxes, I pads etc. which at this present day seem to have taken over young lives.  The pitch is being used by Coiste na nÓg, the senior players, the ladies football the “mothers and others” and so many more and of course the running track is a great asset to all who like to keep safe and off the busy roads.  So, if everyone in the parish and beyond get behind the club and buy a ticket per family or individual the outstanding debt of €35,000 plus can be brought down and, who knows, you could be a winner.

Intermediates
The West Intermediate semi-final v Gerald Griffins took place in Glin on Saturday evening last. This was a hard fought game and thankfully Athea were victorious on this occasion and won by a score of 0-10 to 0-5. This now sees them through to the West Final against Rathkeale, date to be confirmed. Give them your full support.
