It is lovely to see the Killeaney AFC wall painted in the past few weeks. Now that the Council have repaired the drainage it is hoped that it will be easier to keep the wall looking neat and tidy, with less splashes and puddles. A belated welcome to Johnny Sheehy who is taking over the care-taking job from Jim Prendeville who has been working at that post since 2005.

Sympathy to Paudie Mulvihill on the death of his sister, Mary O’Donoghue from Duagh, recently. Sympathy too to Siobhan Liston, Lisreidy on the death of her husband Denis McMonagle.

Hearty congratulations to Tomás and Han Geoghegan, Turraree, who celebrated their 70th – platinum – wedding anniversary at the weekend. What an achievement! We do not see too many platinum anniversaries. Married in June 1948 they have had seventy years of living happily together. They have two sons Donal married to Mary and Patrick married to Nuala and one daughter Maura married to Pakie White; they have been blessed with  seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. I hope they will be happy together in their own home for a long time yet.

Congratulations to Jason Lynch, Glasha who recently got 1st place in the ACCA exams. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – ACCA –  which was founded in 1904 is the global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification. Well done to Jason on this great achievement. George Langan would agree with me that great people come out of Glasha!

Ballyhahill National School Parents Association wishes to thank all who gave at the Church Gate Collection last Saturday evening. The money is always much needed and appreciated by the school. Thank you.

It was nice to see the tradition of the Corpus Christi procession revived in Loughill and Ballyhahill last weekend. The fine weather added to the occasion. Many people said it brought them back to their childhood when it was the norm in all churches.
