We send good wishes also to the proud granddad, Pius Collins and Margaret Collins, the delighted grandmother –  also to Mary Collins, Lower Athea, who again has become a great grandmother and is wished all the best as she recovers from her recent operation.

Continued best of luck to all those who are doing their exams at the moment – it’s a stressful time not only for students but for parents also., however it will be over before they know it.

The wedding took place on Saturday last, at St. Colman’s Church in Ballintotis, Cork, of Andrea Greaney, daughter of Ita and Tom, Templeathea, to Jer Healy, son of Mary and Teady, Abbeyfeale. The nuptial ceremony was performed by Fr. Michael Wall, a relative of the Greaney family. The bride was assisted by her sisters Karen and Rachel and friend Margaret Barrett. The best man was Sean Healy and the groomsmen were Mark and Tim Healy, all brothers of the groom. The reception followed at the Middleton Park Hotel where a great day was enjoyed by all. Sincere congrats and good wishes go to the newly weds on their happy occasion.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the following who have been recently bereaved. Tommy White and family, Upper Athea, on the death of John Halpin (nephew of Tommy’s) in Listowel. Next Saturday evening’s Mass- at 7.30pm (June 16th)  will be the lovely graduation Mass for those in 6th class who will be leaving Athea N.S. after all their years and heading off to secondary schools. We wish them all the very best as they take another “step forward” in their lives and maybe some day they will agree with us oldies that “school days are the best of one’s life”.

On Sunday 17th there will be a barbecue around the hall area. There will be more details in the next few days.

Well doe to Athea Credit Union who held a lovely party on Wednesday last for their “50 Year Celebration”.  Everyone had a great day
