Congratulations to Creeves Celtic who defeated Broadford United Reserves 3-1 in the Desmond Division 3 League Cup Final at Clounreask on Friday June 1. Tom Shanahan 2 and Darragh O’Connor scored the goals, as they completed the double having won the League earlier in the season. Tom Shanahan was named Man of the Match, and James Nash and Noel O’Donnell were joint managers. Liam Kennedy and Eoin Bourke, from the St Kieran’s club are included in the Limerick U 20 Football panel that meet Kerry in the quarter final of the new Munster U 20 Football Championship in Newcastle West on Friday June 15 at 7.30pm. St Kieran’s were defeated by Newcastle West 3-9 to 0-12 in Round 5 of the County Senior Football League at Coolcappa on Friday June 8. Darragh Treacy and Sean Mc Sweeney were members of the Limerick team that lost to Mayo by 5-19 to 3-7 in Round 1 of the All Ireland Senior Football Qualifier at the Gaelic Grounds Limerick on Saturday June 9.
Dean Quaid and Lorcan Murphy, from the Kilcolman Rovers soccer club are members of the Desmond league U 14 panel competing in the Kennedy Cup in UL from Monday June 11.

Congratulations to members of the Mc Cormack family on their recent sailing success with Foynes Yacht Club. Darragh and Mark, and Johnny Dillon were placed 1st overall Munster Mermaid champions, and Vincent and Roisin, and Michael Lynch, were placed 2nd overall Munster Mermaid champions.
St Kieran’s Heritage Association held their June meeting in Ardagh Heritage Centre on Thursday 7 and 13 people were present. Chairman John P O’Sullivan welcomed all and Secretary Mary Kury read out the minutes. Matters arising were dealt with and the main item on the agenda was the Ardagh Chalice 150 Anniversary Festival in September. The Programme for the final two weekends is near complete at present. It promises to be an action packed two weeks of entertainment with something to suit all tastes. Pa O’Dwyer (Rooskagh) the strongest Man in Ireland has been invited to attend the festival. The very popular Pig on a spit will be available on both Sundays.
People were thanked for supporting the church gate collection in Coolcappa/Kilcolman, and the Pub quiz in Reen’s Bar. The closing date for the Art Competition for children to bring their entries to the four schools is is Friday June 22. The SKHA webpage is up and running at www. St Kieran’s Heritage.ie The association will shortly have a presence on Twitter and Instagram with a separate Face book page for Ardagh Chalice 150 and plan to register SKHA as a charity. The Graveyard section of Limerick County Council who did the recent clean-up in Ardagh Graveyard was thanked. Nationwide will not do a programme about SKHA as they have recently broadcast one from Newcastle West. The Heritage Association is holding a church gate collection in Ardagh/Carrigkerry on the weekend of July 7/8. The next meeting will be on Thursday July 5 in Ardagh Heritage Centre at 8pm.
The learners of VTOS Shanagolden are currently holding their Annual Art Exhibition at Newcastle West Library and it will continue up to Friday June 29. There are over 60 drawings from 10 mature learners, on display which they produced from their weekly class with tutor Maureen Barry Fitzgerald. The exhibition titled In the Making shows the works completed by first and second year adult learners as part of their Level 5 Painting/Drawing Module.
VTOS Shanagolden are currently enrolling learners for the next Academic Year QQI-Level 5 Information Processing) which will commence in September. Participants must be over 21 years and in receipt of Social Welfare for at least six months. Mature learners will be taught new skills in Computers, Communications, Accounting, Work Experience, and Art. People who join the programme can retain their Social Welfare entitlements, and receive travel and meal allowance, Childcare support under CETS, and Career Guidance. A fundraising céilí in aid of the Youth Pilgrimage to Medjugorge will be held in the new hall Castlemahon on Friday June 22 from 9.30pm.Music by Donie Nolan and Taylors Cross Céilí band and admission € 10. There will be numerous spot prizes on the night and all support will be greatly appreciated.
The Parkinson’s Association of Ireland 5km fundraising charity run/walk through the Demesne Newcastle West will be held on Sunday June 24, at 11am with registration at 10am, in Newcastle West Community Centre. The registration fee is adults € 10, children € 5, and family €20.
