The following are the Lottery results from the Old Mill Bar on Monday, May 14. The numbers drawn were 11, 12, 15, and 17, and there was no Jackpot winner.  Congratulations to the five lucky dip winners who won €40 each: Ita Dineen, Ardagh, Caroline Daly, Ardagh, Paddy Guina, Ardagh, Josie and Maggie, Carrigkerry and JG and GD, c/o Greaney’s.  Next week’s Jackpot will be €7,400 and the draw will be held in Neary’s Bar, Ardagh.

The members of Ardagh/Carrigkerry Comhaltas branch and the Flag Floor Committee recently made a presentation to the Leanne Bennett fund. The proceeds from their concert/Céilí held on April 15 were presented in cheque form to Karen O’Brien, sister of Leanne.

Saint Kieran’s defeated Drom/ Broadford by 1-13 to 0-7 in the West Senior Football Championship Quarter Final played in Newcastle West on Saturday May 12. A Killian Enright goal helped them to lead by 1-5 to 0-5 at half time. Congratulations to Molly Murphy Kilcolman N.S. and Antonia Madigan Ardagh N.S. who were members of the West Limerick Primary School team that won the Neville Cup in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. They defeated South Limerick by 5-6 to 0-0 in the final.  Congratulations to Caitrín de Bhall Kilcolman teacher, who was a mentor.

Carrig Celtic defeated Ballingarry AFC 2-1 at home in the Premier Division of the Desmond League on Sunday May 13. Ray Cahill scored both goals to move them away from the bottom of the table. Creeves Celtic defeated Carrig Celtic B 5-0 away in the semi final of the Division 3 League Cup with goals from Jimmy Dillane 2, Richard Hayes, Seamus Mangan, and Rob Culhane. Congratulations to Jim Molyneaux who was referee for the Riedy Cup final on Friday May 11. Shountrade defeated Ferry Rangers 1-0 at Clounreask.

Ciara Mann and Sheila Lee are hosting a coffee morning for the Old Mill Ladies Football Club in the Desmond Complex on Friday, May 25 from 9am to 2pm. All support for the fundraiser will be appreciated. 

A set céilí will take place in the Halla Tadgh Gaelach, Tournafulla on this Friday May 25 commencing at 9.30pm with music by Taylors Cross Céilí Band. Tea served and all are welcome.

A finishing up for the summer céilí will be held in Monagea hall on Tuesday May 27 commencing at 8.45pm. There will be a raffle on the night and all donations towards it would be appreciated. People can also bring along some treats on the night to share when the tea is served. Please come along and enjoy a night of fun and dance, all are welcome and there is no charge.

The First Holy Communion Mass for Kilcolman N.S. School pupils will be celebrated on this Saturday, May 26 at 11am.

St Kieran’s Heritage Association are holding a church gate collection in Coolcappa/Kilcolman on Saturday, May 25/and Sunday May 26.

The learners of VTOS Shanagolden are holding their Annual Art Exhibition at Newcastle West Library from Thursday May 31 to Friday June 29. There are over 60 drawings from 10 mature students, on display which they produced from their weekly class with tutor Maureen Barry Fitzgerald. The exhibition titled In the Making shows the works completed by first and second year adult learners as part of their Level 5 Painting/Drawing Module. All are welcome to come along on Thursday May 31 from 7pm, and it will be opened by Triona Lynch of VTOS.

VTOS Shanagolden are currently enrolling learners for the next Academic Year QQI-Level 5 Information Processing) which will commence in September. Participants must be over 21 years and in receipt of Social Welfare for at least six months. Mature learners will be taught new skills in Computers, Communications, Accounting, Work Experience, and Art. People who join the programme can retain their Social Welfare entitlements, and receive travel and meal allowance, Childcare support under CETS, and Career Guidance.  Contact Melanie Casey on 069-60106 for more details.

Emily Clarke, the well known Limerick singer, has been presenting her own show on West Limerick 102fm since last September. She took over from Elle Marie O’Dwyer who returned to the class room. Emily was on air each Thursday from 9am to 11am and she build up a loyal listenership week by week.   Her show is a very lively mix of song and music from the top Irish artists, performing around the circuit. Emily has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in show business and at present is still performing around the county. She was a guest on the Irish Country Stars Concert in Charleville Park Hotel on Wednesday May 16. She gave a powerful performance in front of 800 people, who enjoyed a great night from 9 top class performers. Emily is taking a break from her radio show over the summer months, and will return to the airwaves next September. It is hoped that Ella Marie O’Dwyer  will return to present  a few shows over the summer months.

A fundraising Céilí  for Sarah O’Doherty, Dually who will be volunteering in Fiji, in July with Volunteer Eco Students Abroad will be held in Con Colbert Community Hall Athea on Saturday June 2 from 9.30 pm to 12.30am. The entrance fee is € 10 and a raffle will be held and refreshments provided. The sets will be called and all support will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Mary Kelly, Newcastle West who won €296 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw held on Friday, May 18. Tickets cost €2 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, or from the radio station. All support is very much appreciated.
