Athea GAA
Minors:
Our Minors travelled to Monagea on Friday evening last where they lined out against the Knockaderry/Monagea combination, Athea, unfortunately, were short a couple of players due to other game commitments, therefore having a limited panel on the night. The amalgamation of the opposition proved too powerful for our boys, leaving the scoreline at the whistle 4 -20 to 2 – 4. However saying that, there is actually great scope for improvement with this up and coming young team. Here’s to the rest of the footballing season.
Junior B’s:
The Junior ‘B’ team are back training and Roger Ryan and Neilus Hunt are putting them through their paces.
Celebration:
It’s great to see that players are already replying to the invitations that have just been sent out to those that played in the 1963 and 1968 victorious teams for the 50 year celebration which will be held at The Devon Inn in October. This is going to be a memorable night for players, their families and indeed all GAA enthusiasts and with some special guests on the night, it should be exciting. We all remember – imagine 50 years– the Final against Treaty Sarsfields in 1968. I had to get special permission to get out of boarding school in Bruff – the tormentation having to go back after the game – with such celebrations.
