Match:

Unfortunately our Intermediates weren’t able for a very efficient Chaughaun team in Croagh on Saturday evening last. The very soft pitch didn’t help matters either. However, no doubt the boys will bounce back from their defeat of 1-08 to 1-18. it was good to see Jonathan Fitzgerald at the match following his recent match injury. He is wished a full and speedy recovery.

Junior B.

The Junior B team are back training under the guidance and leadership of Neilus Hunt and Roger Ryan. They are wished all the best for the season.

Minors:

The Minors will play the Knockaderry/Monagea combination on this Friday 13th April at 6.30 in Monagea. Hopefully the ‘13th’ being on Friday will not be a bad omen for Athea.

Celebration:

Invitations have now been sent out to all the players of the 1963 and 1968 teams who brought victories to Athea in those years. It is hoped that it’s going to be a very ‘memorable’ night in October at The Devon Inn, as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1968 Co. Final and of course the 1963 also.

Lip-Along:

Don’t forget to get ready for the Lip-Along later on in the year. Have your favourite songs ready and also all those you would like to see taking part.

If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.

Athea Ladies Football

Our Intermediate team played Oola in the first round of the Intermediate Championship on Saturday evening last in Páirc na nGael. It was a very exciting game of football with never more than a kick of a ball between the teams. It was a perfect evening for football and we led at the break by two points. It was point for point in the second half but unfortunately a late goal for the opposition left the final score Athea 1-11, Oola 2-10. We have a bye in the next round and will play Knockainey on Saturday April 28. Team: Sarah O’Connor, Jackie Stackpoole, Katie Collins, Amy Carmody, Rebekah Daly, Patsy O’Connell, Michelle Curtin, Rachel Greaney, Lisa O’Connor, Anita Quinn, Noelle Curtin, Megan Carroll, Saoirse Fitzgerald, Sandra Larkin, Ciara Hunt, Maeve Carmody, Claire Carmody and Maeve Murphy.
