Athea GAA

Intermediates:

Well, this Monday, April 2nd sees our Intermediates taking on Pallasgreen in Ballingarry in one of their 1st games of the championship. The game is due to start at 6.30pm (check again for time). The next game is on April 6th in Askeaton against Claughaun. This game also has a 6.30 start. Your support for these boys would be very welcome as they start out on the season with ‘High Hopes’ having put in good training.

This Friday, March 30th sees Gerald Griffins line out against Mountcollins here at Páirc na nGael in Athea in their first championship game. This is a big game for our pitch – with no doubt big support for both sides.

Reminder:

Don’t forget it’s so important that membership subscriptions are to be paid by this Friday, March 30th. All players please note.

Minors:

Mark Reidy and Richard Fitzgerald will be the trainers for the Minor team for the coming season. No doubt they should do well under their expert guidance.

Club Gear:

The Fashion Show in the Hall this Wednesday night 28th will display Athea Club Gear. The gear can be ordered on O’Neills website under Athea GAA. No doubt this will be a much looked forward to and exclusively modeled part of the show.

Registration:

Many thanks to all those who have registered so far this year. If there is anyone who has yet to register please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 ASAP as all players need to be registered to be covered by insurance. The playing season and training will commence shortly. Details to follow.

Garda Vetting:

As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.

If you have any problems you can contact Athea’s Child Welfare Officer, Jacqueline O’ Connor on 086-0670091.
