Intermediates:

Well, Athea are looking forward to playing their first two championship games in the very near future. The 1st of these games takes place on April 1st. (hopefully it won’t be a ‘Fool’s  Day’ on our side). They meet Pallaskenry in Ballingarry on this date. The next game is on April 6th v Claughaun in Askeaton. Both games are down for a 6.30pm kick-off. Please support.

On Friday 30th a big game for our Athea pitch when Gerald Griffins meet Mountcollins in their 1st championship match. No doubt there will be great support for both sides and they are very welcome to Páirc na nGael.

Membership:

A reminder that membership subscriptions are to be paid by March 30th. This is vital for all players.

Minor:

Training will commence in the coming weeks. The management team will be Richard Fitzgerald and Mark Reidy. They are wished well for the coming season.

Lighting:

Expressions of interest are invited for the new lighting at the pitch, which will no doubt, be a huge asset when the lights are erected and hopefully this will take place in the not too distant future.

Congrats:

Congrats to Lisa O’Connor, Upper Athea and Eamon O’Callaghan of Rockchapel who were married over the weekend here in Athea. (Lisa is daughter of Mike and Margaret, Upper Athea – Margaret being the great and dedicated washer of the Athea GAA jerseys.

Registration:

Many thanks to all those who have registered so far this year. If there is anyone who has yet to register please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 ASAP as all players need to be registered to be covered by insurance. The playing season and training will commence shortly. Details to follow.

Garda Vetting:

As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.

If you have any problems you can contact Athea’s Child Welfare Officer, Jacqueline O’ Connor on 086-0670091.

Foundation Football Course:

There is a Foundation Football course taking place in Fr. Caseys GAA Club, Abbeyfeale this Friday evening March 23 from 7pm-10pm and Saturday morning March 24 from 9.30am-1pm. You need to attend both days to complete the course. Places are limited so if you want to book a space please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 as soon as possible.
