Athea GAA

Páirc na nGael:

Well, Páirc na nGael looked idyllic over the past few days as a blanket of snow enveloped the pitch and with no footprints or no training going on it was a sight. However no doubt all players will be eager to get back to the gym and on to the pitch this week and get going again.

Mick Mackey:

Well, with the inclement weather over the past few days, it hasn’t been easy to get out to those who would like to join the Mick Mackey Draw and with such wonderful prizes no doubt many would want to. Also by buying a ticket you are helping both Athea GAA and Ladies Club who get a percentage of the profits. Further information can be got from Paul Curry on 087-6501673 or Liz O’Sullivan on 087-6699783.

Junior B:

The Junior B players meeting will be on this Friday, March 9th at 9pm in the clubhouse. All players are asked to be present.

Fixture:

The Athea v Oola game which was to have been played here in Athea on Saturday last, will now hopefully be played on this Saturday at 3pm in Páirc na nGael – (Div 2) of the league.

Thought for the Week:- “You have to be tough to go out on the field and play a match and win but you also have to be tough to lose a match”

Coiste na nÓg:

Registration:

Many thanks to all those who have registered so far this year. If there is anyone who has yet to register please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 ASAP as all players need to be registered to be covered by insurance for the coming year.

Garda Vetting:

As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.

If you have any problems you can contact Athea’s Child Welfare Officer, Jacqueline O’ Connor on 086-0670091.

Child Protection Workshop:

Athea Coiste na nÓg will be holding a child protection workshop this evening Wednesday March 7th at 7pm to 10pm in the Clubhouse. It is important that all coaches attend. If there is anyone in the Parish that wants to attend, they are more than welcome. Please contact Jacqueline with your name on 086-0670091 to book a place.

Foundation Football Course:

There is a Foundation Football course taking place in Fr. Casey’s GAA Club Abbeyfeale on Friday evening March 23 from 7pm-10pm and Saturday morning March 24 from 9.30am-1pm. You need to attend both days to complete the course. Places are limited so if you want to book a space please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 as soon as possible.
