It was an exciting weekend with the Grand Slam victory, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and another fall of snow in case we had forgotten the last one two weeks ago. Hopefully things will settle down now and gardens can be planted as we look forward to the real spring.

All roads lead to Knockdown this weekend for the Vintage run.  There will be a Table Quiz in the Knockdown Arms on Friday March 23rd to get the weekend off to a good start. This is being organised by Estuary Macra. All support will be appreciated.

The members of the ICA wish to extend a vote of sympathy to the family of Kitty Normoyle, Knockdown who died recently. Kitty had been a member up until she got ill. A vote of sympathy was also extended to Daisy Kearney on the death of her brother-in-law John O’Connor recently.

It was sad to hear of the death of Eily O’Shaughnessy from Loughill who was buried on Tuesday 20th.  We extend our sympathies to her husband Tom of The Angler’s Rest and to her children and extended family. We think also of the Liston family of Knocknaboula on the death of Dan Liston this week. May their souls rest in peace.

A meeting was held in the Hall last Thursday night to organize a drama group in the parish. It was great to see lots of interest. A follow up meeting will be held this coming Thursday at 8 pm in the Hall. Anybody with an interest in drama both on and off stage is welcome. John B. Keane’s play “Sive” is the play which is intended to be produced, hopefully around next November. Contact Eleanor at 0863271174 for more information.
