Athea GAA
Mick Mackey:
The annual Mick Mackey draw will be starting up shortly and as I’m sure you are well aware now of the magnificent prizes which include holidays, cars and great cash prizes. As well as being in with a chance to win some of these great prizes over the months of the draw, by buying a ticket you are helping out our own GAA clubs and Ladies football club, who benefit from local ticket sales. Athea clubs have been lucky over the last number of years, so hopefully this time around will be the same.
Fixture:
This Saturday Athea meet Oola here in Páirc na nGael at 3pm in Division 2 of the League. All your support would be greatly appreciated.
Junior B:
There will be a Junior ‘B’ players meeting on Friday, March 9th at 9pm in the Clubhouse. All players are asked to be present at the meeting.
Fund-Raising:
The club are asking players, parents, young adults and anyone who has ideas on doing fundraising. Some ideas have already been thrown about, but it’s when ‘all heads’ are put together that solutions and ways of fund-raising get sorted. The opening of the pitch could coincide with the major fund-raiser.
Coiste na nÓg:
Registration:
Many thanks to all those who have registered so far this year. If there is anyone who has yet to register please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 ASAP as all players need to be registered to be covered by insurance for the coming year.
Garda Vetting:
As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.
If you have any problems you can contact Athea’s Child Welfare Officer, Jacqueline O’ Connor on 086-0670091
Child Protection Workshop:
Athea Coiste na nÓg will be holding a child protection workshop on Wednesday evening March 7th at 7pm to 10pm in the Clubhouse. It is important that all coaches attend. If there is anyone in the Parish that wants to attend, they are more than welcome. Please contact Jacqueline with your name on 086-0670091 to book a place.
Foundation Football Course:
There is a Foundation Football course taking place in Fr. Casey’s GAA Club Abbeyfeale on Friday evening March 23 from 7pm-10pm and Saturday morning March 24 from 9.30am-1pm. You need to attend both days to complete the course. Places are limited so if you want to book a space please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 as soon as possible.
Pretend Sick:
Many thanks Athea Drama group for allowing us the opportunity to fundraise by letting us have the tuck shop for two nights during their wonderful production “Pretend Sick”. Thanks also to all who helped out on both nights in the shop and to all who baked buns, pies, etc; it is greatly appreciated by the club.
County Teams:
Congratulations to Daire O’ Shea on making the Limerick U14 Football Team. Also Congratulations to Michael Tierney on making the Limerick U15 Football Team. This is a great achievement and we wish the boys the very best for the season ahead.
