Athea GAA
Challenge:
Athea Intermediates played a challenge game against Mountcollins on Friday evening last. Athea won by a point. They are putting in a good deal of training under their new trainer Seamus O’Donnell and of course the gym at Páirc na nGael is a huge asset also with weights etc. available. The inclement weather over the past few days hasn’t been kind to anyone wishing to do a spot of training/running, but hopefully in the not too distant future with the weather improved and the evenings getting longer and brighter the pitch will be used to it’s full potential.
Fundraiser:
Well, a meeting will be organized in the very near future to put together ideas for a further fundraiser for the club. Some of last year’s Lip-Sync participants are very eager to get things going and have some good ideas on trying to bring down the pitch debt further. Julie Finucane Barrett hopes to organize the men and women and even some new faces for maybe a Lip-Along! It is hoped that it will be put together to have around Easter-time as it’s imperative that we try and get the debt down, let’s give it everyone’s backing.

Garda Vetting:
As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
