Athea GAA

Executive Meeting:

At our last meeting Derek Byrne was nominated as the new treasurer of Athea GAA Club. We wish him well and also thank Máireád O’Donovan for her tremendous work as former treasurer over the past number of years.

Lip-Along:

Well rumour has it that many of last year’s Lip-Sync participants are eager “to take to the stage again” and do another fund-raiser for Athea GAA. This year’s main suggestion is called ‘Lip-Along’. Julie Marie (Barrett) Finucane is full of the joys of getting things started as soon as possible. It is hoped that we will have a meeting in the next couple of weeks to which volunteers will be invited who would like to take part in the fundraiser or indeed anyone who may have good ideas as regards what form the fund-raiser should take. Songs, music, participants, props and lots more will be discussed to get things rolling. It would be great “to be ready to go” around the Easter break? So start listening and getting different songs/tracks into each head and then it can all hopefully be put together in a matter of 6 weeks or so!.

Dancing with the Stars:

Hope all are voting for Anna Geary on Dancing with the Stars on Sunday evening’s on RTE. Anna is granddaughter of Mrs. Danaher, Templeathea.

Coiste na nÓg:

Garda Vetting:

As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.

If you have any problems you can contact Athea’s Child Welfare Officer, Jacqueline O’ Connor on 086-0670091.
