Athea GAA

Track Lighting:

Well things are underway at last to get the walking/running track ‘lit-up’. This will be a huge asset to not only players of all age groups, but also to everyone who uses the track, as it’s so safe and away from the road traffic. It will be most welcomed during the darker winter evenings and will give no excuse to all ages to get out and about.

Fundraiser:

Well has anyone out there thought of a ‘follow up’ fundraiser to the brilliant ‘Lip-Sync’, which indeed was a great fund-raiser for the club. There have been a few suggestions – such as ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – Battle of the Townlands – A Grand Variety Concert – An Abba Night – A Garth Brooks night –  A Country and Western Night – A Barn Dance – Dancing with the Stars – or bring a well-known singer/band. Anyone out there who has any other good ideas or who would be willing to get things underway, any of the committee would be delighted to have your ideas. The club need to raise another €20,000 like they did with the Lip-Sync to further reduce the debt on the field which now stands at approx €40,000.

Coiste na nÓg:

Garda Vetting:

As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.

If you have any problems you can contact Athea’s Child Welfare Officer, Jacqueline O’ Connor on 086-0670091.
