Congratulations to Daniel Looney who won €20,000 in the Gerald Griffin’s GAA Lotto last Sunday night in Knockdown. It is great that a local won it.

Well done to Ballyhahill Pre-school who has incorporated an outdoor Mud Kitchen and outdoor Play area into their activities. Sharon Griffin, who runs the school, is a most inspiring lady who caters for all kinds of wild imaginations and consequently she is loved by all the children. I, sometimes, get the job of dropping my grandchildren to this school and it is great to see such excitement in the little ones as they wait for the door to open. It is a great start for the “Big” school.

The Parish Clerks’ collections will take place next weekend Saturday and Sunday 11/12 November.  Both Bridget in Ballyhahill and Frances in Loughill appreciate all the support we can give them.

The ICA ladies meeting will hold their November meeting on this Wednesday November 8th at 8.10 pm. They are making preparations for the Food & Craft Fair in the Hall on November 26th.

The Going Strong will meet in Ballyhahill on Tuesday 14th November at 2pm. Mass for the deceased members of the group will be celebrated during the afternoon.

Milford Care Centre are running a writing competition with the theme “What have you heard….. about Palliative Care?” The aim of the competition is to raise the public’s awareness and understanding of “What is Palliative Care”, how it benefits the patient and their family and to consider the importance of availing of palliative care services earlier in the illness progression. Palliative care focuses on helping people of all ages to live well with an illness that’s life-limiting and achieve the best quality of life as their illness progresses. It involves not only the management of pain and other symptoms but offers social, emotional and spiritual support also. I am glad to say I am one of the three finalists whose stories are loaded on to the Milford Care Centre Facebook page. The winner is the one who gets the most votes. Have a peep on their page, scroll down and vote for who you like the most.
