Barry Keane Ballyine and Clodagh O’Connor, Cashel, Tipperary who were married in the Star of the Sea Church Quilty, Clare on Saturday, September 16 and held their reception in the Armada Hotel, Spanish Point Clare.

Bridget Liston, Carrigkerry and Michael White, Knockfinisk, who were married in Saint Mary’s Church, Carrigkerry on Saturday, September 23 and held their reception in the Earl of Desmond Hotel, Tralee.

Tomas Greaney, Kilcolman and Marie Culhane, Ballyguiltinane, Glin who were married in Glin Church on Saturday, September 30 and held their reception in the Ballyroe Hotel, Tralee.

Congratulations to Old Mill ladies team and mentors who won the County U-16 A Football Championship in Banogue on Thursday September 21. They defeated Galtee Gaels by 5-17 to 4-8 after leading 2-8 to 1-3 at half time. Saint Molua’s National School Parents Association appointed the following committee members at their recent annual general meeting for the coming year. The following are the Lottery results from Moore’s Bar Carrigkerry on Monday September 25. The numbers drawn were 12,13,22,and 24 , and there was no Jackpot winner.  Congratulations to the lucky dip winners who won €40 each, Thomas Daly Ardagh, Helen Costello, Coolcappa, Claire Sheehy, Newcastle West, and Hannie O’Connor, Glensharrold.  Next week’s Jackpot will be €7,400 and the draw will be held in Neary’s  Bar Ardagh.

The Limerick GAA club draw for September was held during the sports show held on Limerick Live 95fm on Saturday morning last. Congratulations to Pat, and Noreen, Murphy joined with Saint Kieran’s  who won €100.

West Limerick 102 community Radio are holding a 50/50 draw at present. The tickets cost €2 and are available in local shops, and from the Station. This will be a weekly fundraiser for the Radio, and the draw will be held live on air each Friday at 12.45pm. The winning ticket holder receives half of the money collected that week and the Radio Station receives the other half. The latest winner was Jim Long from Feenagh, and he won €340. All support weekly to keep the station on air will be greatly appreciated.

Saint Kieran’s defeated Oola by 2-10 to 1-8 in the County Minor A Football semi-final in Kilbreedy on Friday Sept 29.

Creeves Celtic defeated Ballingarry 3-2 away in Division 3 of the Desmond League on Sunday September 24. Tom Shanahan, Darragh O’Connor, and Adam Kearns scored their goals. Carrig Celtic’s two teams had no match. In Division 1 of the Ladies League Creeves Celtic defeated Kilcolman Rovers 2-1 at home, with goals from Tara Rocca, and Sandra Larkin. Carrig Celtic had no match.

Social dancing continues  in Ardagh Community Centre each Wednesday with Eileen. Learn how to jive quickstep waltz foxtrot slosh etc, from 8pm to 10pm. No partner required and the fee per class is €10 each. Eileen has a dance class also in the Parish Hall in Newcastle West each Monday night as per above.  It is a great way to meet people of similar interests, and to keep fit at the same time.

Saint Kieran’s Heritage Association  trip to Dublin has been fixed for Tuesday January 23 2018. The schedule includes a visit to the National Museum to see the Ardagh Chalice Hoard and to the Dáil to view proceedings. The cost will be €10 for non members, €5 for OAPs, and other concessions. To book a seat contact Mary on 087-9282462. Next meeting on this Thursday October 5 in Ardagh Community Hall at 8pm and all are welcome.

Newcastle West film club present Handsome Devil at the Desmond Complex Gortboy Newcastle West on Friday October 6 commencing at 8pm.  The admission is €7 which includes €1 daily membership and over 18 years only. This is the 19th season for the club and patrons can look forward to exciting films over the winter months.

The West Limerick Singing Club will hold their monthly session at the Ramble Inn in Abbeyfeale on Friday, October 6 from 9pm. The Gary Mc Mahon singing weekend will be launched on the night, and all singers most welcome to perform.

A night of music song and dance will be held in Jim’s Rambling House Newbridge on this Friday October 6 from 8.30pm. A great night of entertainment is promised and all musicians, singers, dancers and story tellers are welcome.

The Agnes (Aggie) Kennelly Memorial Gala Concert in aid of Pieta House will be held in Saint Molua’s Church, Ardagh on Friday October 6 at 8pm. The following Artists will take part. special Guest, Mairead Buicke, one of Ireland’s leading Sopranos, and Jean O’Brien, accompanist, Anne Phelan, Violinist with R.T.E. Saint  Molua’s Church Choir with Sean Moriarty choirmaster.  The Priests, Fr. Tim Curtin Canon Tony Mullins, and Fr. Liam Enright. Michael Nash,  Limerick’s famous Tenor, Olivia Meehan,  the 11 yr old with the magic voice, Michael and  Fiona Collins on Mandolin, and  Seamus  and Johnny Hunt  , N.C.W. Pipers. There will also be a raffle during the show and prizes include  two return flights from Shannon to London. Tickets for the event are on sale at Neary’s, Parish Office Ardagh and Tony Hayes N.C.W. and also by contacting Theresa at 086-8123855 and  they cost €15 each.

The big Lip Sync night is only five weeks away and the excitement is growing by the day with rehearsals ongoing for all the acts participating.  The fundraising support events are continuing weekly and next up is a Marathon Challenge on Saturday October 7. A group of five Saint Kieran’s players John Doyle, Ivan Neary, Ian Mackessy, Niall O’Shea, and John O’Connor, will visit all the grounds in West Limerick and run the distance of a marathon. Sponsorship cards are available and all support in aid of the event will be greatly appreciated. A Coffee Morning will be held in the Desmond Complex on Friday October 13 from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Kilcolman Rovers are holding a Rambling House in Ardagh Hall in conjunction with Ardagh/Carrigkerry Comhaltas on Saturday October 14 at 8pm. All musicians, singers, dancers and storytellers are most welcome, and all proceeds will go towards the Ardagh Astro Turf Project fundraiser. Donations in aid of the project have been positive to date and thanks to all who have contributed so far. People can still donate by contacting  David Woulfe, Deirdre Ambrose, Donie Mc Enery, Patrick Windle, John Aherne, Seanie Hayes or Ian Mackessy. The main Lip Sync event will be held in the Devon Inn Hotel Templeglantine on Saturday November 11 and tickets will be available to purchase shortly.

Body Blast classes with Nicola O’Sullivan commence on Saturday October 7 at 9am in Ardagh Community Hall. Consisting of core strength training for a mixed aged group and booking is essential. Contact Nicola on 087-9459971 for more details.

The Diocese of Limerick launch of World Meetings of Families will be held in the grounds of Mary Immaculate College Limerick on Sunday October 8 from 1pm to 5pm. All are welcome to this free family fun day. The attractions include food stalls, mobile farm, face painting archery, obstacle course and water zorbs, festival mass at 4pm, and lots of music and games for all the family.

Paddy Quilligan will supply the music for the Wednesday Club who are holding a Tea Dance in Father Casey’s GAA Clubhouse, Abbeyfeale on Sunday, October 8. Dancing from 3pm to 6pm, and the proceeds will go towards West Limerick 102 Radio and all support will be greatly appreciated.
