Limerick U21’s:
Wasn’t it great to see the U21s Limerick hurlers winning the All Ireland final in Thurles on Saturday last. A great day for the team and indeed the county. I had particular interest with my cousin Paudie Aherne of Kileedy on the panel. Well done to them all. Fr. Duggan at the weekend masses complimented their great win and also the Athea U14s and U16s who are into County finals – long may their love of sport continue.
U21s:
The U21s have started their training under the leadership of Mark Reidy. They are making full use of the gym at Páirc na nGael and extra equipment will be arriving this coming week. There are still no fixtures for the West U21s ‘A’ championship.

Well Sunday next sees the much looked forward to All Ireland football final between Mayo and Dublin taking place. So keep those flags flying in Dirreen and Lower Athea for Mayo. It should be an exciting game.
