Athea GAA

Championship:

A good crowd attended the Intermediate Championship game on Friday evening last between Athea and Mountcollins. Unfortunately on this occasion Athea were beaten on a scoreline of (0-9) to (1-12).

Sympathy:

Sympathy is extended to the O’Connor family of Upper Dirreen on the recent death in Dublin of Michael O’Connor who it was noted was a brilliant, gifted footballer in the 1950’s for Athea. ‘May he rest in peace’.

Congratulations and Well Done:

Harry Collins of Wales (grandson of Mary Ellen and Denis, Templeathea) who togged out with the Athea U14s team during the week and scored (2-1). Also on Saturday Harry played during the interval in Croke Park with Swansea and had the best of scoring for Wales. Well Done
