Congratulations to Ta and Ita Mullane on the birth of their grandson Keegan Daniel Mullane who was born to their son Paul and his wife Bríd in Australia last week. There will be great excitement in the summer when they come home for a holiday.

The Parish Clerks Collection will take place on the coming Saturday and Sunday May 6th/7th. . Your support is appreciated.

Maureen Kenneally will be having her annual Coffee Morning for the Alzheimer’s Society in the Resource Centre in Loughill on this Thursday morning May 4th from 10 am onwards. All support is welcome.

We are into a week of fine weather again. It is hard to know whether we have spring or summer from week to week but we will welcome all fine days that come our way.  There is no doubt that the fine weather shows off our lovely country. I did a lot of driving last weekend way up to the northern counties of Fermanagh, Tyrone and Antrim and it was so lovely to admire the rich green fields, some flat and some undulating as we drove along. I was also lucky enough to be in Glasha bog last week on a fine evening when I heard the cuckoo loud and clear overhead for the first time this year. It always lifts my heart when I hear the sound. But just as summer is approaching I am excited to tell you that a new adventure awaits me. This time next week Jim and I will be in the autumn season as we will be visiting our son Seán in Australia. So we will have the golden colours again. This is our way of celebrating 40 years of marriage this year. So no Knockdown News for a few weeks but, because of modern technology, I will be bringing you news from Down Under. It will be a different experience for all. I hope nobody minds.

Congratulations to  Margaret Reidy Culhane who won The Killeaney Lotto on Monday night.
