‘Bits & Bobs’
Well as I sit outside this Sunday evening writing my few lines, one could feel they were in one of the ‘hot spots’ in Europe. And having walked in Ballybunion today with an unreal calmness in the sea, not a wave and crowds enjoying the glorious sunshine having their get-togethers on the beach, some having little barbecues, the kids lapping up the freedom and in swimming and a view that was like a ‘picture postcard’ out over the water – one could say we were in an idyllic location if we got this weather for a while – long may it last – it gives everyone a boost!
Donie Lyons, well known singer and musician, is launching his CD on this Sunday, May 14th at 3pm in Barrett’s in Glin. We wish him well with the launch.
The very best of luck to all those receiving their 1st Holy Communion this Saturday here in Athea. Mass is at 11am and hopefully they will all have a nice day.
The wedding took place on Saturday last in Moyvane of Andrew Sheehy, son of Joe and Noreen of Clash, Athea to Fiona Mullins of Moyvane. The reception was held in the Ballygarry House Hotel in Tralee where a great day was had by all. Congrats and good wishes to the newlyweds.
Well it’s Eurovision time yet again and you either ‘love it or dislike it’. Hopefully Ireland will get through to the live show on Saturday night! However even if they do, the way the voting has gone now leaves a lot to be desired! Some families make it a ‘Eurovision night’ and have friends over and have the usual treats etc and make a fun night of it. So whether you like it or not hopefully young Brendan Murray, Louis Walsh’s choice, will do us proud.
Well after everyone’s hard work on Good Friday with the “Team Limerick Clean Up” and everyone around Athea doing their bit we may have sat down to say the least! Every day one walks the road you could come out with a bag full of rubbish, or indeed as I did the other day with my grandkids and came with “a buggy full” of cans, bottles and papers! And the other day I’m told, someone put in a load of newspapers into one of the village bins and they all blew out around the street and even up into the Church yard. Do people realize if they don’t have a recycling bin that you can recycle cans and bottles and glass here in Athea and nearby facilities take papers etc. so please help keep Athea tidy and looking the way we would like to see it.
