Lip Sync Battle:
A large crowd attended the launch of our latest fundraiser at the Top of the Town bar on Sunday evening last. As the community will be aware, Athea GAA Club has prepared and approved a series of significant development projects designed to improve the Pitch and Club facilities as part of their ambitious 2020 vision of our club. As we prepare to enter the following phases of our development project, we have recently launched our upcoming Lip Sync Battle Fundraiser which will take places at the Devon Inn Hotel on February 4th. ‘Lip Sync’ is a relatively new concept which involves acting out and singing along to a popular song on stage. There will be 12 acts performing on the night and from these acts one act will be crowned Lip Sync Champions! It is the first fundraiser of its kind for the area and is attracting much attention. Lip Sync fever is currently gripping the area as shower singers are quickly becoming the next Johnny Logan and Beyonce! We have established a team of 50 plus brave volunteers from the parish and also many volunteers from surrounding parishes have requested to be part of this exciting showcase of talent! The acts are following a rigorous training schedule and according to their trainer Cassie Leen: ‘ I’ve said it since day one, it will be the best show I’ve been involved in, they are so good and so enthusiastic and excited about it all’ Following an appeal for main sponsors for this magnificent event, we are very lucky to have secured four main sponsors: Athea & District Credit Union, Brown Joes Bar, Allman Contracts Ltd and Mike Hayes Building Contractor. The committee would like to sincerely thank each sponsor for their generosity. We are currently selling full and half page adverts for a special Athea Lip Sync Booklet which will be available on the night. If you would like to purchase an advert please contact Mairead on 087 7703673. Tickets will also be on sale this week in Brouder’s Shop and Collins Shop, Athea. But hurry, tickets are expected to be in high demand and a limited amount will be available. On behalf of the committee, we would like to thank all the participants for coming forward to take to the stage in February. Also thanks to Betty, Johnny and Staff at the Top of the Town for providing us with a rehearsal space. Roll on February 4th.
