County Minor 13 Aside Championship:

Athea 1-09         Croom 3-12

Our Minors bowed out of this year’s championship after losing to Croom in Páirc na nGael on Thursday evening last. Even though we played some of our best football this year and lead by one point at half time, we ran out of steam in the last five minutes. Croom got a couple of late goals to kill off our chances of qualifying for the semi-final stage. Thanks to Pat O’ Sullivan, Tommy Denihan and Denis Sheahan for looking after the team. Team: Marecks Shah, Mark McAuliffe, TJ Doherty, Alan Kelly, Sean Ryan, Micheál Dalton, Conor Fitzgerald, Micheál Ambrose, John Sexton, Jack Vaughan, Brian Sheahan, Padraig O’Sullivan, Ronan Hayes & David O’Sullivan.

Saturday August 6: Big Ball 7’s:

We entered a team to compete in the Big Ball 7’s which was a football tournament held in memory of the late Shane Hourigan of Rathkeale . We lost our first two games in the group stages to Galtee Gaels and Dromcollogher/Broadford but rallied to beat senior side Oola to qualify for the next round. We then met Galtee Gaels again but this time we came out on top on a score line of 0-11 to 0-10. We then played Ballylanders in the quarter final but lost out to eventual winners of the tournament. Well done to the ten players who togged out on the day and a big thank you to Rathkeale GAA Club for organizing a very well ran tournament. Panel: Gerard Collins, Denis Greaney, Pa Chawke, Matthew Tierney, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Michael Reidy, Jamie Collins, Padraig Reidy, Mark Reidy & Jason Kelly.

Club Limerick Draw:

Friday August 5: Super 10s:
We had thirteen players for the football blitz in Rathkeale last Friday night. We played three games against St. Kierans, Askeaton/Ballysteen and Fr. Caseys. It was nine a side with the subs interchanging all the time. They played some great football, defending, passing, attacking and scoring with skill, spirit and determination.
This was without doubt the team’s best display so far this year and if they keep up the practice there is even more to come, as we will have plenty more matches as the year goes on. Panel: Tomás Ahern, Ciaran Hunt, Callum Buckley, Evan Curry, James Hunt, Brid Hunt, Ailísa Ahern, Louis O’Sullivan, Jim Ahern, Jack Sexton, Jamie Collins, Sean Twomey and Tomás Ahern.

Monday August 8:

Our U16s made the long journey to Banogue on Monday evening last to take on the locals. We struggled to put a team together for this match and the fifteen who togged out tried hard and played some good football in the first half. As the game progressed a few of our players picked up injuries and we had no subs to bring on as a result we struggled all through the second half. Despite this, we are still in with a chance to qualify for the shield semi final and we are asking all players to fully commit to this team by attending training and turning up for games. Team:  David O’Sullivan, Joseph Dalton, Micheál Dalton, Pierce O’Brien, Alex McEldowney, Shane Ambrose, Jamie O’Mahony, John Sexton, TJ White, Brian English, Cathal O’Brien,  David O’Connor, Brandon Finucane, Aidan Curry & Jack O’Connor.
