Fleádh Ceoil Luimní started off with a great crowd in Glin library on Monday 30th May with Tunes and Words. Many children showed their talent in singing, playing the tinwhistle, dancing and storytelling as Gaeilge agus Béarla. Gabriel Fitzmaurice entertained all with his amusing poems for and about children. This was followed by some music and song from the adults present. Such was the crowd that some listened from outside the open front door. Even the weather got into the spirit of things so it augers well for this week of the County Fleadh in Glin. We wish the best of luck to all concerned.
The Parents Association of Scoil Naomh Mhuire, Ballyhahill wishes to thank everybody for their support at the Church Gate collection last weekend. I was delighted to see that three pupils from Ballyhahill School won awards in Tarbert comp recently and were presented with their prizes by a former pupil of Ballyhahill, Brian Scanlon who is the current Limerick football goalkeeper. Colm McSweeney, Lisready, won the Male Student of the Year award; Luke Kelly, Mohernagh won the Principal’s award while Gerard Stack, also from Mohernagh, brought home the Senior Musician of the Year award. Well done to all.
Everybody in the parish was saddened to hear the news of Antoinette Noonan’s passing at such a young age. Sincere sympathy to her husband Pat and daughter Roisín and extended families.
Sad too to hear that Dick Fitzgerald of the Railway Bar, Abbeyfeale has died. May he rest in peace.
