I am sad to report that Joe Faley or Joseph Feely (same person) died last week in Canada where he had set up home many, many years ago. Adopted into the Faley family of Glasha in 1933 he is the last of the Faley clan. He made many trips home to visit family and friends through the years, his last visit being at Paddy Faley’s funeral in 2011. He was a real gentle man and loved by all who knew him. Aged 83, Joe, whose wife died in 2006, is survived by his three daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. May he rest in peace. In his memory and in thanksgiving for his life Mass will be offered for him in Athea at a date to be announced later.
A special congratulations to Mark Sheahan, Glenbawn, who received his 1st Holy Communion last weekend. It was an emotional day for Mark’s family as, people may remember, that Mark had to undergo chemo for a while and had many visits to Crumlin hospital over his young years. Thank God, he is now a happy healthy young fellow.

Thank you too to all those who supported the School in the bag packing fundraiser on Saturday 7th May in Askeaton Supervalu. Both the volunteer bag packers and the donations from the public were greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to Killeaney Juniors who have retained their place in the premier league with two games to go.
I am delighted to let you know that Limerick City and County libraries now offer e-services. Books and magazines and videos can be downloaded to your Smartphone or tablet – if you are member. They can be read at home or away, day or night. If anyone is interested please ask on your next visit to any library. You need not buy a “Hello” magazine anymore! Spread the word.
Fleádh Ceoil Luimní will hold its first session, of what promises to be a great week, in Glin library on Monday 30th May with Tunes and Words – a bit of fun for children of all ages. Gabriel Fitzmaurice will be in attendance.
