Abbeyfeale ICA is organising a  Talk on Mental Health to be delivered by Aoife Farrel, Development Officer, on Tuesday 15th March at the Further Education and Training Centre  (Old VEC Centre)  Mount Mahon at 7.30 pm. This is an open meeting and anyone and everyone is welcome.

The Synod Sports Conference in Mary I was a great success on last Thursday night. A large crowd from across the diocese listened attentively as Mickey Harte and Ger Hartmann spoke enthusiastically about how the Church could learn from sporting organisations on how to build community and bring energy into our faith. A few quotes as follows:  “Discipline is necessary in both sport and faith.” “It is not enough to follow the rules. We must get out of our comfort zone.” “Nothing develops without working at it, strengthening it.”  “We must balance body, mind and spirit.” Both men energised the audience with their speeches which included both jokes and even a bit of singing and sent us home more uplifted. The synod delegates have been very busy this past week with lots of gatherings resulting in many proposals put forward for further discussion.

The Parish Lenten Station Masses will be held in Ballyhahill on this Wednesday 2nd March at 7 p.m. and on Thursday 3rd  March in Loughill at 7 p.m.

The Loughill/Ballyhahill Strictly dancers are eagerly practicing. With 8 weeks to go, a great night can be guaranteed for the final in the Devon Inn on April 23rd. This is a fun fundraising event for both the Soccer and Ladies football so all support will be appreciated.

I am hearing great things about the Athea drama and look forward to seeing The Hen Night Epiphany next weekend.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers on Sunday. Enjoy being spoiled!
