The atrocious weather last weekend greatly affected Glin Fair but probably added to the Craft fair in Ceol Corbraí where all the people gathered to admire and purchase from the many stalls laden with temptations of all kinds. Luckily most of the goods were  sold before the power went off leaving the hall in darkness for a while. But though the weather was atrocious we were all safe and dry in this part of the country and all are most grateful that our homes or businesses were not flooded as is happening in many other parts of the country. Such an awful thing to happen at any time but especially coming up to Christmas. Let us hope that there are not too many homes destroyed.

Christmas is well and truly on the way now with most houses having been decorated last weekend and Santa appearing in every village and town from now til Christmas Eve. The ICA has produced a lovely book all about Christmas including recipes, preparations for the event, making homemade cards and decorations, poems and stories and reminisces of past Christmases. Anne Marie Dennison of Mainistir na Féile guild and Peg Prendeville of Ballyhahill/Loughill guild have items in it.  It is a lovely collection and would make a lovely present. Of course I, being an ICA member, am probably biased but find out for yourself.

Fr McNamara, at Mass last weekend, reminded everybody to please return the Tax Relief forms at the earliest convenience.  He informed us that the Parish, which has a large debt, will benefit greatly from this tax relief which comes from tax which has already been paid to revenue. If anybody requires a form let him know.

Congratulations to Mary and Mickey Finucane, Clounleharde on the birth of their granddaughter recently, a baby girl to their daughter Elaine and Paudie O’Connell. We wish them all great happiness.
