U12 Division 3 (Sat, October 10th)
Athea Utd (3) 4
Fergal Pierse, James Broderick, Callum Buckley, Daire O’Shea
Broadford Utd B (1) 1
Our twelves remain unbeaten in the league after winning four one against Broadford Utd B at The Vales last Saturday afternoon. We were ahead inside three minutes when Fergal Pierse reacted quickest to drill the ball to the net after a Callum Buckley corner from the right. Ten minutes later we added a second and again it came from a corner, this time from the left which Daire O’Shea took and was volleyed to the net at the back post by James Broderick. Broadford were by no means out of it and our defence had to be on their toes. Two minutes from half time we stretched our advantage. Daire O’Shea had a great strike tipped over the by the keeper and from the resultant corner the ball was played out to Callum Buckley to strike a beauty into the top right corner. Half time 3-0.
The second half was more open and Broadford got one back early in the half. But we were soon back on track with a cracker of a goal by Daire O’Shea but despite more chances from both sides were no further goals.

Athea Coiste na nÓg:
U13s:
Our U13’s played four matches recently in the league. Having lost to Croom and St. Senans in the first two games, they put up a great battle against Dromcollogher/Broadford only to lose out by a couple of points at the final whistle. In their final game against Granagh/Ballingarry our boys played their best football of the year. Great team play and a hundred percent commitment ensured a great win for this team. A Colin Broderick goal and a Luke Gleeson point had us ahead at half-time by three points. The home side equalized after the break, but a great point from Michael Tierney gave us the lead again. Aidan Curry was next on the score sheet when he blasted the ball to the back of the net and points from Andrew O’ Riordan and Danny Brady increased our lead. Granagh/Ballingarry came back and narrowed the gap to two points, but Alex McEldowney and Thomas McEnery were playing out of their skins and a great point in the final minutes from the boot of Danny Brady ensured victory with the final score reading Athea 2-05, Granagh/Ballingarry 2-02. Panel: Evan Wallace, Eoin Sheahan, Thomas McEnery, Gavin Ambrose, Jack Hunt, Michael Tierney, Eoin O’ Shea, Alex McEldowney, Andrew O’Riordan, Luke Gleeson, Aidan Curry, Colin Broderick, Pauric Enright, Dermot Pierse, Pierce O’ Brien, Brandon Finucane, Padraig McMahon, Adam Byrne, TJ Hunt, Danny Brady & Daire O’ Shea.
