Carrig Celtic FC held the fifth and final draw in their 300 Club Draw at Moore’s Bar, Carrigkerry on Easter Sunday Night. Congratulations to the following lucky winners: First Prize €1,000 Paddy O’Sullivan, Carrigkerry West. The death has taken place of Fr Michael Lane, Shravokee, Clonlara, County Clare.  He was a former Curate of Coolcappa/Kilcolman from 1980 to 1986. He moved to Glenroe Parish where he served as Parish Priest up to 2002.  He lay in repose on Wednesday evening at McMahon’s Funeral Home, Blackwater from 4.30pm with prayers at 6.30pm. His remains were removed on Thursday to Glenroe Church, County Limerick for Liturgy at 11.30am with burial afterwards in the church grounds. We extend our sympathy to his sister Patricia Madden, other relatives and friends. May he rest in Peace.

We extend our sympathy to Eileen, and John Kennedy and family Corbally, Kilcolman, on the death of Eileen’s sister Mary Moynihan nee O’Shea, Killerisk, Tralee, and formerly of Tonevane on Sunday March 22nd. Her remains were removed from McElligott’s Funeral Home to Saint John the Baptist Church on Monday and after Requiem Mass on Tuesday she was laid to rest in New Rath Cemetery Tralee. She is survived by her husband John, daughter Liz, sons Brendan, Kieran and Aidan, extended family relatives and friends. May she rest in Peace.

We extend our sympathy also to Fr Paddy Bowen, (former parish priest) and family on the recent death of his sister Mary Kelly Ballyroe, Ballingarry May she rest in Peace.

Congratulations to Mike Kearney and Martin Flynn who were prize winners at The Flag Floor card game held on Wednesday April 1st. Congratulations to Connie, & Esther Horgan, and Donie Donovan, & James Bridgeman, who were prize winners at the card game held in Monagea Hall on Wednesday April 1st.  Congratulations to Mike, and Moss O’Connor, who shared first prize at the card game held in Shanagolden Hall on Good Friday night April 3rd.

Carrig Celtic B defeated Askeaton B 4-3 away in Group B of the Desmond Division 3 League Cup on Sunday April 5. Mike Dore, 2 Brian Byrnes, and John Greaney scored their goals. The other three local teams had no fixtures.

Louise and Bridget, would like to thank all those who came and supported the coffee morning in Moore’s Bar on Daffodil Day. With your help and generosity we raised an impressive €1,040. Thank you all so much for supporting this worthy cause. Jackie Geoghegan and Sharon Kinehan’s Daffodil Day Coffee Morning held in Lisgordan Ardagh, raised €618 and many thanks to all who contributed.

On Good Friday morning all across Limerick City and County a major clean up was held and it was a great success with large groups of people participating. At a local level groups were to be seen out and about cleaning up large areas and collecting vast amounts of discarded rubbish. Well done to everybody who participated in the event.

Ardagh/Carrigkerry senior citizens Christmas party committee would like to thank all the people who contributed to their recent Church gate collection. They would like also to acknowledge the generous donation from Glensharrold Wren Group. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

We were blessed with the weather over the Easter weekend and people spent a lot of the time outdoors enjoying the lovely sunshine. Spring is really here now with increased growth and activity all around.

Johnny McCarthy and Darragh Treacy from the Saint Kieran’s club were members of the Limerick football team that defeated Louth by 2-13 to 2-11 in Round 7 Division 3 of the National Football League at Drogheda on Sunday April 5th. They retained their Division status as a result and thoughts now turn to the Munster Championship match against Clare in May.

Saint Kieran’s defeated Fr Casey’s by 1-11 to 0-6 in Round 3 of the County Football League played in Coolcappa on Thursday April 2nd. They defeated Monaleen away by 1-13 to 2-8 in Round 4 on Monday April 6th to make it two wins from their four matches played.

Saint Kieran’s were defeated by Saint Senan’s by 0-12 to 0-8 in Round 1 of the West Junior B Football League at Coolcappa on Friday April 3rd.

Saint Kieran’s were defeated by Glenroe by 4-15 to 1-6 in Division 3 of the County Intermediate Hurling League played in Ballylanders.

Enrolment is now taking place at Coolcappa N.S. and parents who wish to enrol their children can contact the Principal, Nora Madden at the school on 069-76493.

Carrigkerry/Old Mill Development Association have a number of upcoming vacancies on their C.E. Scheme for general workers. People who may be interested in a position can contact the social welfare office in Newcastle West to check if they are eligible to apply.

The Ardagh Graveyard book compiled by Mary Kury continues to attract interest and copies are disappearing fast.  It is a fine detailed history with excellent facts and figures and all houses should secure a copy before they run out.  It can still be got at Curley’s Post Office and Shop Ardagh and it costs €20.

Coolcappa Parent’s Association are holding a Table Quiz at Reens Bar Ardagh on Friday 17th April at 9pm. A table of four people costs €20 and all support will be appreciated.

The family and friends of the late Paddy Barry, Dunganville, Old Mill are holding a tribute night in his honour at the Ballintemple Inn, Newcastle West on this Saturday 18th April at 9.30pm. It will be a night for Paddy’s family and friends to come together and to recall the mayor contribution that he made to under age soccer and ladies football in the area.  Both were close to his heart and he worked tirelessly in his role as coach/manager in promoting games for the youth in the Old Mill Club.

To recognise his involvement the Barry family will make two presentations during the night. They will present The Paddy Barry Memorial Cups to the Desmond Schoolboys/Girls League, and to the County Limerick Ladies Football Board to be used in under age competition. There will be music also on the night and all are welcome to attend.
