Athea Community COUNCIL has recently purchased a building in the village for use as a central office and to house the community CE scheme. The building, formerly owned by Connie Herbert and was once Pa O’Connors shop, has great potential and we hope to develop it into offices, meeting rooms and workshops for start-up small enterprises. We are grateful to Athea Credit Union for lending us the money to purchase the premises and now we have to start paying them back. Our main source of income is our weekly “LUCKY NUMBERS” lottery with tickets on sale locally for €2 or 3 for €5. We also have vouchers for €50 (six months entry) €100 (one year entry) or €20 (10 weeks entry). These would make an ideal gift for occasions like Christmas or to treat yourself, you never know, you could scoop the jackpot!
