Athea GAA
Matches:
Minor Championship:
Athea/Mountcollins Rangers 7-15
Granagh/Ballingarry-Banogue 1-08
The Athea/Mountcollins combination put in a powerful display of football in Ballingarry on Tuesday evening of last week totally dominating this match from start to finish. Kieran Harnett was solid in goals and his kick outs were very accurate. Our defense worked hard breaking down any attacks from the opposition and setting up many scoring opportunities for our forwards. The mid-field paring of Gavin O’Reilly and Mikie Mahony were on top for most of the match and our forwards were on fire with their lighting pace and accuracy in front of goals. This was a great team effort and the finest hour of football these boys have played all year. They have now qualified for the “A” semi final with one match remaining against St. Mary/Sean Finns on Friday August 15.Team: Kieran Harnett, Jason Dalton, Timmy Finnegan, Tommy Quaid, William Mullane, Keith Murphy, Diarmuid Flanagan, Gavin O’Reilly, Mikie Mahony, Padraic Walsh, Conor Moroney, Jack Denihan, Brian O’Connor, Padraig Collins, James Ryan, Jason Kelly, Denny Buckley, Daniel Brosnan, John Lenihan and Tony McAuliffe.
