Local Tidy Towns volunteers busy keeping the flowers watered

Athea Parish Festival

Every success to the Parish Festival which starts on  Friday evening and goes on until Sunday, August 24th. Loads of events have been organised and hopefully the weather will be good and that all events will be well supported.

Glin Charity Cycle

Glin Charity Cyclists in  aid of the Irish Heart Foundation and Glin GAA will stage a 70K and a 120K Charity Cycle on Saturday August 16th. They will be passing through Athea and on to Abbeyfeale between 10 or 11 am. Please come out and show your support. A collection will be taken up around the village immediately after the cyclists pass through.

Sudan Collection

The collectors would like to thank all those who supported last weekend’s collection in aid of Sudan Relief which totalled €517.

Athea Fishing Club

An Adult Competition will be held in the River Gale on this Wednesday evening, August 13th. Fishing from 6.30pm to 9.30pm for the Moss Fitzgerald Cup. Sign on in Batt’s Bar. Only those signed on will be considered for weigh-in.

Athea Community Council

The Board of Directors of Athea Community Council send our deepest sympathy to our Chairman Seamus Ahern, Parkanna, on the passing of his mother Eileen. Sympathy also to all the Ahern family. May she rest in peace.
