Saturday July 12:

The under 10’s travelled to Mick Neville park on Saturday morning last to take part in a Regional blitz. All the boys did extremely well playing teams from Monagea, St. Mary/Sean Finns and Dromcollogher/Broadford. This young team have really improved with every match they have played this year and the coaches are delighted with the progress they have made. Training continues this Friday evening at 6.30pm. A big thanks to all the parents who travelled to Rathkeale on the day.  Panel:  Michael Walsh, Dylan Steward, Cillian O’Connor, Callum Buckley, Evan Curry, Calum Glesson, Donnchadh Barrett, Fergal Pierse, Daire O’Shea, James Lee, Gearoid O’Sullivan, Conor Fitzgerald & James Broderick.

Monday July 14th:

Athea U16’s travelled to the Dromcollogher to take on the locals in the league. Minus a few of our regulars, we struggled to get a foothold in the game and we were trailing by seven points at the break. Athea scores in the first half coming from Brian Sheahan, Liam McAuliffe and Jack O’Connor. We started brightly in the second half when Liam McAuliffe kicked two nice points but the home side stepped up a gear and ran out easy winners at the final whistle. Team: David O’Sullivan, Padraig O’Sullivan, Conor Fitzgerald, Mark McAuliffe, TJ Doherty, Micheál Ambrose, Shane Ambrose, Sean Ryan, James Ryan, Liam McAuliffe, William Sexton, Ronan Hayes, John Sexton, Brian Sheahan, Jamie O’Brien, David O’Connor & Jack O’Connor.

Cúl Camp:

This year’s Cúl Camp was another great success with our highest attendance ever of up to seventy boys and girls attending during the week. From U6s up to U12s the coaches had the boys and girls busy for the whole week learning all the skills that are needed for playing Gaelic football. On Friday Limerick Senior Footballer Ian Ryan arrived at the camp and spoke to all the players about football, answering any questions they had and signing jerseys. We would like to thank the coaches Pat Galvin, Kevin Moore, Jason O’ Flaherty, Jack English, Damien Lacey, Katie and Levi Ryan for making it such an exciting and fun week for all the boys and girls. Thanks also to the parents who helped out during the week.
