Sunday June 22:
Junior B:
Our Junior Bs made the short journey to Abbeyfeale on Sunday evening last to play Mountcollins in the third round of the championship. Despite a good start thanks to two great points from the boot of Tomás Mullane and a great goal from John Cotter it was Mountcollins who went in at the break a point to the good. In the second half we had a lot of possession but could not convert it into scores whereas Mountcollins seem to score with every attack. We did manage to score a penalty late on; John Cotter converting after Mark Reidy was fouled in the square. The final score was Athea 2-02, Mountcollins 1-10. Team: Kieran Hartnett, Jason Dalton, Michael Ahern, Jason O’ Flaherty, William Mullane, Brian Ahern, Colm Hassett, Sean Ahern, Mark Reidy, Tomás Mullane, Denis Collins, Jack Denihan, Padraic Walsh, John Cotter, Neilo Keane, Dan McMahon, Dan Mullane, Liam O’Brien, Roger Ryan & Sean Liston.

Thursday June 19:
U12:
We played Granagh/Ballingarry in a very competitive and exciting game in Athea on Thursday night last. This was probably our best performance so far this year and despite losing we played some very good football. The defense played very well throughout and our forwards won plenty of ball, but we need to sharpen up on our shooting, that said Eoin O’Shea scored two brilliant goals and Andrew O’ Riordan also scored a great goal. The midfield pairing of Alex McEldowney along with Luke Gleeson and in the second half Michael Tierney worked tirelessly all through the match against much bigger opponents. All the substitutes made a big contribution when introduced. Our next game is away to St Senans in Foynes on Thursday July 3rd at 6.45pm.
Panel: Colin Broderick, Michael Tierney, Eoin Sheahan, Evan Wallace, Pierce O’Brien, Alex McEldowney, Luke Gleeson, Eoin O’Shea, Jack Hunt, Andrew O’ Riordan, T.J. Hunt, Danny Brady, Gavin Ambrose, Brandon Finucane, Sarah O’Connor, Aidan Curry, Adam Byrne, Pauric Enright & Dermot Pierse.
We all wish a speedy recovery to Evan Wallace who injured his wrist during the game.
