 Matches:

Monday June 2:

U14:

Our U14s played their first match of the league when they took on Askeaton/Ballysteen in Páirc na nGael on Monday evening last. We played our best football in the first half and we went ahead in the fifth minute when TJ White scored a great point. Our backs were well on top with Micheál Dalton controlling things inside our half. The opposition did manage a shot on our goals but Cathal O’Brien made a great save and cleared his lines. Shortly afterwards, a long ball into the square was well fielded by John Sexton and his shot found its way into the corner of the net. We tried hard to put more points on the board, but we could not find the target and the half time score read Athea 1-01, Askeaton/Ballysteen 0-00. In the second half, the visitors upped their game and scored three early points to narrow the gap. Jack O’Connor split the posts scoring a great point to give us a two point advantage ten minutes into the half. Askeaton/Ballysteen rocked us when they score three goals in quick succession, we tried hard to come back but time ran out and the final score was Athea 1-02, Askeaton/Ballysteen 3-03. Team: Cathal O’Brien, Danny Brady, Micheál Dalton, Jamie O’Mahony, David O’Sullivan, Shane Ambrose, David O’Connor, Daniel McEldowney Seamus Leahy, Luke Gleeson, Jason Dillon, Jack O’Connor, TJ White, John Sexton, Joseph Dalton, Sean Sheehan, Thomas McEnery, Evan Wallace, Eoin Sheahan & Michael Tierney.

Then on Sunday afternoon in Thurles the Hurlers produced a fantastic performance to book a place in the Munster final winning on a score line of Limerick 2-18 Tipperary 2-16.
