Congratulations to Thomas Healy, Kasey Kiriakaki, Jack Finnerty McCoy, Chloe O’Halloran and Killian Ryan from Ballyhahill N.S. who received their First Holy Communion last Saturday. It was an awful wet miserable day but hopefully the children and their parents had a good day anyhow.

Confirmation for both schools took place on Tuesday 13th May at 1030 a.m. in Ballyhahill Church.  It was the first official visit to the Parish for Bishop Brendan Leahy who then went on to Glin  to confirm the children there.

Congratulations to Sinead Harrison, daughter of Joe and Marian from Knockdown, who graduated as a solicitor from Blackhall Place Law Society in Dublin  last Thursday May 8th. We wish her well in her career.

Ballroom dancing classes are taking place in the Hall, Ballyhahill on Monday nights from 9-11 p.m.  Everyone is welcome.

I hear there is a fairy wood being developed in Athea so I composed a few lines in honour of the fairies.

From Fairy Street to Fairy wood, they crept along one night
They had decided to move their home to all Athea’s delight.
And now they’ll live in harmony among the trees and flowers
They will commune with nature, helping children gather flowers.
What joy the fairies will provide to those at home and far away
It will be another reason to pay a visit to Athea.
