‘Happy Mother’s Day’
Well this coming Sunday is a very important day in all households being ‘Mother’s Day’. It’s a day when mothers should take a break from all household duties, no cooking, no washing, no cleaning, all to be done by the head of the household – the husband to be exact, helped of course by the children of all ages.! So all you mothers stay in bed for a while as you’ll need the extra rest, seeing as the clocks will be going forward for summer-time on Saturday night!. ‘Happy Mother’s Day to one and all – enjoy the breakfast in bed and the pampering’.
Congratulations are extended to Gráinne and Tom Aherne of Glenagore, Athea who were recently blessed with their new baby boy Padraic, a little brother for Tomás, Alisha and Caoimhe. Indeed a big happy family.
Congratulations also to Sarah and Denis Collins who recently had their first baby, a little boy they are naming Denis Patrick. Mary Ellen and Denis Collins in Templeathea are proud grandparents again, and no doubt baby Denis will be a footballer in the making like his dad!.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Anna Flaherty of Blaine, who passed away peacefully over the weekend. A really lovely lady, she will be sadly missed by her family.
The death has also taken place in England of Bridget Ward (nee O’Mahony). She will be brought home on Thursday with burial on Friday. She was predeceased by her husband Jerry some years ago. May they rest in peace.
Don’t forget this Friday 28th is ‘Daffodil Day’ – no doubt everyone knows someone who has been touched by the ‘Big C’ at some stage so your support on the day would be very much appreciated – it being their main yearly fundraiser.
Athea NS are having a sponsored walk on April 3rd starting at 11am from the school. You are asked to please support the walk, all the schoolchildren having sponsorship cards – the money raised going to the renovation of the old school building. Even a little would be a help.
This Sunday ‘Mother’s Day’ – O’Halloran’s Nurseries is having an afternoon for all from 2-6pm – All are welcome to come along and enjoy Mother’s Day.
Start gathering your bits and pieces for the grand GAA Car-Boot Sale on Easter Sunday. A great way to clear out unwanted items. Remember “what’s one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure”
