Club Membership:
For those who have not yet become members of Athea GAA Club they can still do so. This is a great way of supporting the Club at only a cost of €20 for the year. The GAA has the largest membership of any sports organisation in Ireland. When one becomes a member of a GAA club, they become part of the GAA family and part of a great community based organisation that continues to enhance the lives of so many people both young and old.
Players Meeting:
There will be a players meeting in the Clubhouse this Friday evening January 24 at 9.30pm. All Intermediate and Junior B players are asked to attend.
Athea Coiste na nÓg:
A.G.M
Coiste na nÓg’s Annual General Meeting took place last Sunday evening in the Clubhouse. Chairman Paul Curry welcomed everyone and secretary John Hunt gave a detailed account of all the events of last year. John thanked Paul who stepped down from his position as chairman, for his work and commitment to the Coiste over the past four years. John wished Paul all the best in his new role as chairman for the senior club. John thanked Tom McEnery for his excellent work as treasurer in his first year. He also thanked the coaches who give of their time voluntary for the benefit of the children in the parish. The club is now looking forward to another successful year in 2014. LAST MAN STANDING
The club have already this season run a very successful Last Man Standing Competition which was won by Tadgh Culhane from Glin. We are now back in action again with the next competition commencing on the weekend of Saturday, Sunday, Monday, February 1st/2nd/3rd 2014. Cards are now available for this competition from any committee member and cards are also available from our Junior A and Junior B players. Lines are just €5 and for this you could win the €300 prize money which is generously being sponsored by Brown Joes Bar, Athea and the club would like to thank Tommy O’Grady for the sponsorship. There is also a sellers prize of €50 for the person that sells the winning line.
All cards must be returned by Saturday, January 25th 2014.
