FIXTURES NOTICE
There will be no schoolboy or junior soccer on the weekend of Saturday/Sunday, December 28th/29th. Fixtures resume on Saturday, January 4th for schoolboys with games for the U12s and U16s. Juniors resume on Sunday, January 5th 2014.

ATHEA UTD CHARITY SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Following on from our very successful tournaments held over the last years Athea Utd are once again organizing a charity tournament on the Astro Turf at The Vales on St Stephens Day will money raised going to GOAL. The first game timed for 11.30am sharp and is open to all players with an Athea connection. Trophies for the winners and runners up, player of the tournament, best goal, best save and worst miss are being generously sponsored by The Top of The Town, Athea.

RULES / GUIDELINES
1.      First game starts at 11.30am sharp.
2.      Six (6) minutes a half.
3.      Players are asked to arrive at least fifteen (15) minutes before kick-off times.
4.      All games will start at designated times.
5.       Moulded studs or astro-turf runners only. No metal studs.

PRESENTATIONS
Presentations of trophies will take place at The Top of the Town at 5.30pm. All are welcome to attend.

NOTE – All money raised will go to the Irish Charity GOAL which is sending aid to the Philippines which was devastated last month by Typhoon Haiyan. We will have buckets in a few locations at The Vales on St Stephens Day and anybody wishing do make a donation can do so. There will be hot beverages available, tea, coffee and soup as well as sandwiches. All are welcome to The Vales on St Stephens Day for out now annual Christmas Tournament.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION
Athea Utd Schoolboys would like to thank most sincerely all those who supported our Church Gate Collection last weekend. It was very much appreciated.

TRAINING AT THE VALES
In 2008 Athea Utd undertook a major development with the installation by Pride Sports & Leisure of a synthetic training area, the product is known as ‘FIELDTURF’ and is the only one of its kind in Co. Limerick.
Pride Sports & Leisure have this product patented and are the only company in the country able to install this FIFA approved product. There has been a huge amount of interest from clubs, leagues, companies and other parties and at the moment we have a limited number of slots available as clearly if you want the best The Vales, Athea is the place to train
BOOKINGS ROLLING IN FAST –
The soccer season is now in full swing and we have had numerous enquiries from clubs and organisations as to what time slots are remaining and as we cater for all events the advice is simple and that is to contact Pat or Denis asap. The advice is not to delay and phone today. Remember the numbers again Pat – (087)7934417 and Denis – (087)2069900. “Very limited slots available”.

CLOTHES BANK
Athea Utd this week installed a clothes bank at our grounds at The Vales and which accept clothes as well as other items. The clothes bank will benefit The Street Children of Calcutta as well as providing
a very useful service for the people of the parish and its environs.
The clothes bank can accept the following items – (1) Clothes. (2) Sheets. (3) (Blankets. (4) Towels. (5) Shoes. (6) Curtains
THE CLOTHES BANK WILL BE OPEN AT THE FOLLOWING TIMES –
Mondays 10am to 3pm. Wednesdays 10am to 3pm. Fridays 10am to 3pm.
Monday – Friday nights from 7pm to 9.30pm.
Saturday and Sundays 10am to 2am.
NOTE –
Alternatively if persons want to avail of the Clothes Bank but the above hours are not suitable they may leave any items with any of the club committee.
ATHEA UTD / ADRENALIN SPORTS
Athea Utd AFC are pleased to announce its continuation with Adrenalin Sports for the coming season and that all Discount Cards from last season are valid for the coming 2013-14 season. Any players that doesn’t have the Discount Cards can get them from Pa Walsh.

ATHEA UTD LOTTERY RESULTS FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 16th

Club Membership:

For those who have not yet become members of Athea GAA Club they can still do so. This is a great way of supporting the Club at only a cost of €20 for the year. The GAA has the largest membership of any sports organisation in Ireland. When one becomes a member of a GAAclub, they become part of the GAA family and part of a great community based organisation that continues to enhance the lives of so many people both young and old.

Old Photographs of Athea GAA:

The Club are still looking for any old photographs or match programmes from anyone that has them in the parish. Photographs from days gone by of underage teams up to Senior level, GAA Parish Socials or any photographs with a connection to the GAA club will be scanned and saved digitally,  then returned to the owner. County Intermediate Football Championship 2014:

The draw took place for the 2014 County Intermediate Football Championship at the County Convention on Sunday evening last. Athea were placed in group 2 along with Feohanagh/Castlemahon, Mountcollins, Gerald Griffins, St.Senans and Hospital/Herbertstown.

Group 2:
Round 1: Athea V Feohanagh/Castlemahon.
Round 2: Athea V Mountcollins.
Round 3: Athea V Gerald Griffins.
Round 4: Athea V St.Senans.
Round 5: Athea V Hospital/Herbertstown.

West Intermediate Medal Presentation:

Athea Intermediate footballers will be presented with their West Intermediate Championship medals on this Saturday night December 21 at the Top of the Town. There will be live music and hot food served on the night. All are welcome.

Athea Coiste na nÓg:

Table Quiz:

For a great fun night out during Christmas, the Top of the Town is the place to be on Friday December 27 at 9.30pm, where we will be holding our annual table quiz to help raise funds for the Coiste na nÓg. Once again John Hunt will be quiz Master and there will be lots of spot prizes to be won. There will also be a Limerick jersey, signed by the Munster Hurling Champions auctioned of on the night. Hope to see you all there.

2014 Calendar:

Our 2014 Calendar will be on sale this week at Rose’s shop, Paul Collins shop or from any of our coaches. The cost of the calendar is €5. It is full of team and action shot photographs which were taking through out the year of all our underage teams. It would make a great Christmas present for both here or abroad and everyone can have fun with the quiz on the back page.
