Thanks to you All

Grateful thanks to West Limerick Singers Club and Comhaltas for the wonderful birthday party and Presentation which they laid on last Sunday at the Fr. Casey’s GAA hall, Abbeyfeale. It was wonderful meeting all the friends and fellow singers and composers from several different areas in Limerick and Kerry who have become my good friends down through the years. Thanks to Domhnall de Barra who done much of the organising and paid so many tributes to me in song and story. My thanks also to the Chairman of West Limerick Singers who was MC on the occasion and to Donie Lyons who made the presentation to me.

Thanks as well to the members of the Singer’s Club, the Ceoil Luimnigh group who attended and also paid many tributes. To Nora Butler and her husband Pat who travelled from Tipperary on the day to present me with Nora’s latest album “My home lies in Tipperary”. To Jackie Walsh, Lyreacrompane who represented many of my older friends in Lyre area and those who we played football with in former times. Jackie is also well known as a Comhaltas official in Kerry and Munster. Thank you Jackie.

To members of my own family, extended family who turned up in such big numbers some of whom helped with the entertainment. My nephews John and Tim who provided some of the music on the day. Despite the fact that this was a great day in my life and a very happy birthday, it still made me feel very humble that God has given me all these gifts and talents that generated so many tributes and acclamation from my fellow composers, singers and others involved in the Irish cultural and traditional movement.

Go raibh maith agaibh agus Beannacht Dé oraibh go léir.
