U8’s:
All roads led to Athea on Wednesday evening last as six teams took part in an U8 Go Games Blitz. Over eighty children from Athea, Fr. Caseys, St. Senans, Knockaderry, Glin and St. Kierans played three games each on the three pitches laid out in Páirc na nGael. There was great excitement amongst the children and their parents as all the boys and girls were doing their best for their respective teams. Athea did very well playing against Fr. Caseys, Knockaderry and St. Kierans. The boys and girls in the maroon and white were displaying all the skills they had learned during the year at training and the coaches are very pleased with the progress they have made. When it was all over there was light refreshments for the teams, their coaches and parents for the huge effort they had put in on the night. Many thanks to our referees David O’Connor, Denis Greaney and Roger Ryan and anyone who helped out on the night. Team: Becky Broderick, James Hunt, Callum Buckley, Evan Curry, Bríd Hunt, Ailisa Ahern, Cillian O’Connor, James Lee, Michael Walsh, Donnchadh Barrett, Calum Gleeson, James Broderick, Ciarán Hunt, Niamh Ambrose and Clodagh Scanlon.
