The recent fine spell of weather was a godsend to all the population who were deprived of sunshine over the past few years. It cheered up the people and allowed them a chance to catch up on leisure activities and to get some outstanding work done. The cattle have been released from the sheds, and an amount of silage has been harvested. The turf machines have been very busy as well getting the annual supply cut to keep their customers happy.  The mini summer has left us and the weather has declined at present but hopefully it will return in the near future.

Saint Vincent De Paul Society is holding a Church gate collection in Ardagh/Carrigkerry on Saturday 22nd /Sunday 23rd June. There have been many demands on the Society since their last collection in December and their fund is seriously depleted as a result. People are experiencing severe financial difficulties at present and the Society offers them a lifeline. The cost of everything has been allowed to escalate over the past few years on the one hand and people’s income has been seriously reduced on the other hand. The cost of the austerity measures adopted by the Government has seen people having to ask charity organizations to help them to pay their bills. The local Society cannot operate without the generosity of the people so please be as generous as possible with your donations this coming week-end.
