County:
Limerick Senior footballers have won promotion to Division three of the National football League and a place in the Division four League Final following a brilliant performance against Clare in Ennis on Sunday evening last. Playing with a strong wind in the first half Limerick raced into a five point lead but Clare fought back and Limerick lead by just two points at the break. At the start of the second half Clare were first to score a point and things looked bad when they were awarded a penalty with just a point between the teams. Donal O’ Sullivan in goals saved the penalty brilliantly and this seemed to lift the Limerick team who scored three unanswered points to put them four ahead. The game was put beyond doubt when Ian Ryan found the back of the net and the final score was Limerick 1-13 Clare 0-10. Limerick now face Offaly in the final on April 27 in Croke Park.
